By the time she reached the river, Myst's whole body was beaded with drops of glistening sweat. Her mane was stuck onto her neck and her breath was coming and going raggedly. She sank to her knees by the waterside, stretching her neck out to drink in the cool water that ran down her parched and sore throat smoothly. She laid her neck down onto the bank, exhausted. She felt the contractions and whinnied in pain. She lay panting on the bank, small bumps seen under the skin of her swollen belly every now in then...

He followed her to the river. His head bobbing in sympathy. His eyes were soft and warm. He leaned down and lipped her forelock gently. A soft smile slid onto his face. Everything was going to be alright.

After a hour or so of sweat and pain, a tiny colt slipped out. He was a small and a dark grey, most probably would be black by the time he was old enough to leave his mother. Myst lifted her head and looked into the newborns eyes. He was her own, part of her, her foal. A small white star was on his forehead. Wobblingly, he lifted himself to his hooves, letting out his first tiny whicker. He fell forward, but found her milk and started feeding. She looked in wonderment at him, so tiny. Within ten minutes, she was ready to get up and leave. She encouraged him as he got to his hooves and stepped forward. Soon, he was prancing everyone, putting stregth into his weak legs. Myst noticed a slight limp, but figured that was just because he was still getting used to walked. She looked over to the colts father, awaiting his reaction.
