Alex O'Connell jumped up into the saddle of his blood bay mare. She pricked her ears and softly pawed at the ground, a clear sign that only meant she was tired of just standing here and doing well, nothing. He glanced around to make sure he was on his own, and softly tapped the mare's sides with his calves. Fine, let's go! He tugged at the reins, slowing down her swift gallop to a more collected pace. Alex had no idea what breed she was, but by judging how she held herself and the way she ran he figured she must be Thoroughbred, if not a cross. Alex felt his blond hair fly over his eyes, with a quick movement of his hand he tossed his hair over to the side. After all, he needed to see if he wanted to make it back home in one piece. He hadn't had a lot of riding training but knew just enough. The land was dry and barren, it didn't seem like a lot of anything could survive out here, but a faint shine caught his eye. Born in London, he only briefly visited the deserts of Egypt and knew about those mirages that happened to weary travelers. At least this time, Alex knew the way back home.
The mare tossed up her head and galloped forward, a bit too fast for Alex's taste. Whoa, what's your problem? He said with a bit of annoyance lingering in his tone. This mare had always been a challenge to ride, his mother said she wasn't broken in very well. Alex groaned, he knew he should have ridden his mother's stallion instead. Even he was much easier to control and was smoother and easier to ride, even his trot was a dream to sit. He soon saw the mare's reasoning, they had nearly dashed off a large cliff. Alex dismounted and reached for the reins, creeping towards the edge and looking over. A cliff! Strange, why didn't I see it coming? The mare seemed to look at him as if she was laughing in his face. He shrugged, this place surely had a river somewhere.

Two other figure watched him on the other side of the cliff. They where both female. One seemed at least a year younger then Alex O'Connell, with dirty blonde hair, with turqoise eyes. She was riding a black arabian gelding named Shetan. He seemed very high spirited,he was pulling the reins trying to get his head. But the rider wasn't the letting the gelding get his way.She told him to stop in a serious tone. The other seemed of the age of fifthteen.Who looked like rider on the black Arabian gelding. But the youngest had brown eyes, and was riding a white arabian mare."Kind of cutie don't you think Ariel?"The fiftheen year old said to her sister.Ariel looked toward her little sister."He's cute. But I don't know about ie part Jessica."She said with a smile on her face."Come on squirt we better be getting back."She said to Jessica.Ariel looked at him one last time. Before turning her horse who did a loud neigh. And then went into a canter after the white arabian.

Alex felt himself breath a sigh of relief, people! He wasn't paying attention of which direction he went in, and had managed to get himself stranded in the desert. Which, wasn't a very good place anyone would want to be. He didn't even bring any food or water with him. The hot desert sun was beating down on him, he signed and managed to pull himself back into the saddle. He could just nearly see two figures on a black and white horse, they seemed to be looking back at him but they turned around as if they planned on leaving. The blood bay mare inched away from the cliff to prevent thet two of them from falling to their deaths.
Hey! Wait! He said, kicking his horse into a rushed gallop. He felt awkward in the saddle, trying to get his feet into the stirrups while grabbing for the loose reins. His mother had been giving him lessons, and he was sick with the Flu on the day she was going to show him how to hold the reins right.

The black Arabian gelding halted doing a loud neigh looking, and turning toward Alex. The rider looked Alex in the eyes suddenly. But then a palomino horse came out of no where. It was Alex's uncle Jonathan."Alex wait."He said he was more like holding on to the mane then the reins. He was trying to keep himself steady on the horse."Your parents want you home.C'mon follow me."He then saw the girl on the horse and then younger one on the white arabian."C'mon Alex."Jonthan said.Suddenly the black arabian reared wanting to go.The rider took one last look toward Alex and went into a full gallop toward the white arabian.

He sighed, he had no idea who those two riders were but one thing was clear, they could actually ride without looking like idiots. He could feel himself leaning forward but blinked a few times and realized that perhaps staying out here in the direct sun wasn't a good idea. How far away are we from home? He asked.
The blood bay mare pricked her ears and sent out a loud whinny to the two other horses that were now fading into the bright sun.

The black gelding sent out reply neigh. And then shook his dish as he contined to follow the white arabian.Jonathan look at him."Not far.About ten mintues."He said as he started to lead the way back to the barn. And then halted the horses where he saw his sister Evelyn, and his brother in law. Then he gave the horse to a fiftheen year old girl stable hand. She then waited for the blood bay mare. She was the best stable hand.

Alex sighed as they neared the barn. Well, I guess I should tell you guys before I run off into the desert. He said with a faint laugh, litereally jumping off of the mare. Evelyn sighed, it seemed that even though he was all grown up, Alex couldn't stay out of trouble long enough. Her long brown hair was tyed up in a bun, clearly she had been working with the horses because was wearing her typical riding attire. Goodness Alex! Look at you! You look like you've been out there for days. It's official, you're staying inside. Evelyn said in a playful tone, putting one of her riding saddles back into the small tack and feed room.

Jonathen smiled,"Just like your father.Speaking of it where is the show-off?"He said looking around. He then sat on a chair near one of the horse stalls. Then one of the horses nickered as he took his keys out of his pockets."Hey give those back.Come on."He said. The shook his as if say you want them come and get them.He whinnyed as if he was laughing at Jonthan.

Evenlyn softly stroked the horse's neck, Good boy! She laughed and put a hand underneath the horse's mouth. He dropped the keys into her hands and Evelyn tossed them to Jonathan. I think he likes you. She wished it wasn't so hot out here, which made her miss the cool London air even more. Evelyn had spent most of her life in the library, but even as a young girl she had been riding and training horses up until she joined Rick to search for Hamunaptra years ago. But that was another story.
Alex had no clue as to why they moved out into the middle of nowhere. He didn't like this place already, just a bunch of desert with nothing to do.

Then Rick came out."We got a problem.I got a call from the village over the cliffs. They say a mummy awoke from his slumper.I know I hat mummies but who's up for a little adventure?"He said the group.Jonathan looked toward him."No no no no no.I starting to like it here. Why don't they find someone else?"He said shaking his head."Cause who else would want to take a mummy? You should be more brave like this little girl here."He said putting his arms around Evenlyn

A mummy? Oh no. The last time Alex had that happen to him was when was nine years old, he could remember looking around the temple when all of the sudden a giant wave soaked the entire place. Those were the good times, but he certainly didn't want to be in the hands of a three thousand year old mummy. He looked over at Jonathan, he should be used to this kind of stuff by now. I wonder how brought this one to life. It wasn't me, I swear. Alex said, although he did now that random dead guys didn't walk around trying to take over the world on a daily basis.
Evelyn grinned, this sounded like her kind of adventure. Oh, come on Jonathan. You've been chased by mummies before, so why not today?

Rick smiled and then looked toward his son,and then Jonathan."Yeah Jonathan.Shoudn't you be used to this by now?"He said.Jonathan sighed and then rolled his eyes, and then layed his head back on the stall."Fine."He said not enjoyed."Good then we leave tomorrow morning."He said as he looked toward them.

Evelyn softly patted one of the horse's soft neck, reaching into her jacket pocket and droping a few sugar cubes into it's feed bucket. She smiled at her brother, no matter how unreliable he was at times at least he tried to pitch in from time to time. He had been living in China, and she had heard a lot about him building his own club there. Evelyn was waiting for that plan to fail, yet he wrote her letters about how much business he was getting.
Alex glanced over at his parents, if he didn't raise the mummy and they didn't, then who did?

Alex looked around, he never did like airplanes to begin with but this one looked like it needed some major repairs. Oh well, it was better than rotting out in the desert sun. He glanced over at his uncle, his expression made him want to laugh. Evelyn smiled and looked back at Alex and Jonathan, they didn't seem as thrilled as she did. Come on you two, this will be fun! Well, if you call kicking mummy butt fun, but nontheless it's better than doing nothing. Alex shrugged, where were they going anyways?
