Shoukran threw up his head once more, some strange mare was calling to him but he was too focused to turn his head. He was trying to figure out what these peolpe wanted of him, he knew this rider was meant to be upon his back but Shoukran tried to interpret their expressions and his movements. He felt no pressure in his mouth, the bit resting on his mouth. He threw back his head and backed up a few steps, striking out with his front legs. When he settled his elegant, long tail swished about as he stood.
Henry wanted to work on the stallion with the starting gate, no horse could even start their racing workout with a true walkthrough of the gate. "Let's take him out to the racetrack, I want to see how he reacts."

The handsome, yet moody horse snorted and took a few steps forward and went on to back up. As he felt the elderly man grasp the black leather reins and jerked up his head and struck out with his right hind leg. He could feel the man's eyes in his flesh, a clear message that he was being too rowdy, and yet Shoukran kept it up. This, this is going to be interesting. He picked up a past trot as Lorrtinda and Scout tried to keep up with the two. Pulling back at Shoukran, Henry refused to go any faster and this meant Shoukran would be forced to go at Henry's pace.
Henry motioned for Scout to dismount the horse. He peered into the horse's eyes and grabbed his reins. Henry would make sure this horse knew where his boundaries were, as he would not tolerate him misbehaving. Studying a map of the ranch, Scout pointed left and within a brief amount of time they had arrived at the well groomed grass track. "Since he hasn't had any proper starting gate training, we'll start with introducing him to the concept. The Black didn't have much problems with it, so I am hoping he won't either."

His spirited nature brought him to a quick trot as he felt Lorrinda's hand press against his midnight black coat. He could see the younger man snap on his headgear and he stared back at Shoukran. He felt a small, and light saddle be placed on his back and as the result he struck out with his legs towards the elderly man. Quit it. Henry Dailey ordered and sharply pulled at Shoukran's bridle that had been fit for a new racing prospect. His eyes were burning, his mood had changed to somewhat annoyed to simply, irratated. Shoukran had stayed still long enough and as he felt hands pull against his face he let out a shrill neigh out for all to observe.
Henry took Shoukran and introduced him to the gate's entrance, with a flick of the wrist he instructed Scout to grab the headstall and pull the stallion inside. Shoukran did not throw the usual fit for everything, but reared up on his black legs as he felt the pressure against his head. Scout managed to dance to the side before the horse's hooves could slam down upon him. When Henry said the horse was semi-wild he didn't believe the man, he sure did believe it now. The gate closed and Shoukran lost all control, ears pulled back he thrased about and kicked. Henry knew the horse would destroy the costly gates and so he pressed the button to quickly open the gates. Shoukran bolted out but instead of running off as he should, he kept tossing up his head and kicking out with his legs. It took Scout many taps with the whip but he soon got him to keep a steady lope.

Henry kept a keen eye on Shoukran, but he kept himself from not saying anything to allow Scout to do all the work. The kid could ride, but this horse could be the one that tested Scout the furthest. Shoukran tossed up his head and sped up to a rushed gallop. Tell him to lower his head, or better yet just give him his head! Henry shouted from the rail of the track as the horse carried the rider past him. It seemed Shoukran was doing more of the controling than Scout was. They had a turn to go, and Scout gave the stallion his head as they approached a turn. Shoukran was far off the turn, Scout attempted to turn the horse more to the left as they came strides closer to the finish line. Shoukran gave an ear splitting neigh and bucked out with his hind legs, crossing the finish line. He hadn't thrown his rider, but he was sure he wasn't about to give up. He was a dedicated rider, Scout never allowed the horse to get the better of him.
His eyes stuck to the two, Henry made several mental notes to himself as he saw them complete the track. A buck was never acceptable, and in the real racing world it could possibly injure Shoukran or the other horses and riders. He'd be kicked out of the racing season for something like that. Lorrinda, he can race that's for sure. I would suggest lunging him for a few hours a day, ride him in the round pen, get him used to lead changes and that starting gate over there. The more you work with him, the greater chance we'll be able to race him. Henry knew the horse may respond better with a familiar face than with a stranger. Scout also would have to spend some time riding the stallion, a tie-down was needed and perhaps something to prevent any kicking. Shoukran needed a bit of a tune up.

Shoukran pinned back his handsome, sleek black ears as Scout dismounted and grabbed hold of his leather reins. Easy boy, easy boy... Scout attempted to soothe the already obviously angry stallion who pawed at the soft soil. By now he had settled back down but from time to time would jerk at the reins, as if he had hopes Scout would give up and let him have his head for a while. Scout showed no signs of giving up, which was making Shoukran angry.
Henry Dailey didn't need to be told twie, he was sure who sired this horse. "Lorrinda, Shoukran is the Black's colt. How you got your hands on him, I cannot say." He dusted the dirt off of his white HOPEFUL FARMS hat and rested it back on his head. He studied Shoukran's movements and attitude, he had a strong personality and he knew even Lorrinda would have her work cut out for her when they began the basic training. He needed to be worked on the hot walker at all gaits, first the trot to get him used to basic leads and a faster lope and slow gallop. Scout would lunge him, he was good with basic commands and could turn the most spirited Arabian into a lesson horse. Henry had taught Scout well.
Scout removed his riding helment and ran a hand through his dark brunette hair. It was almost a dark chocolate shade, and his sky blue eyes had a shine of sapphire to them.

His expression was hard to read. Scout quickly removed the light saddle and looked around, trying to remember where he placed the lunging harness. He handed the bridle to Lorrinda. "Hold this, I need to put this harness on and then we'll put that bridle on him and spend some time in the round pen." Scout said in a hushed voice laying the harness on Shoukran's back. He quickly put everything into place, he was quick to make sure Shoukran had no time to argue. Shoukran attempted a kick, but Scout sharply discouraged him from doing so. Taking the bridle back from Lorrinda, he pulled Shoukran's head down to his eye level. If he was going to get anywhere he'd have to lay down basic rules that Shoukran would be expected to follow. Shoukran's ears were pinned, as he wrapped the bridle around his face and pushed the bit into place. Shoukran started to move off at a powerful walk, but Scout reached out and grabbed the cheek strap of the bridle with a few jerks Shoukran stood, his head raised high again. He placed the lunge rein in place, and with a tap of the whip he sent Shoukran going off into a swift canter. As he pulled back on the rein, Shoukran kicked out with his hind legs, and this resulted in a harder tap with the whip causing him to move faster. He would have to learn that the whip could mean one of two things, to move faster or to behave as the rider is asking.

Keeping a firm grip with the stallion, Scout then asked that the horse stop. Shoukran did so, but with an aggressive expression on his face, kicking out with a hind leg. Scout jerked up the lunge whip and in doing so he sent Shoukran off in the other direction. They had been loping around for a while now, but Scout was ready to slow him back down to the trot. Pressure on his nose would help get him used to it when ridden. He planned to tack him up with his old English saddle and have Lorrinda ride him around. She had to be able to apply what she knew and what she was being taught about Shoukran. Shoukran trotted at a smooth pace, and although the temptation to move faster came to him he refused to let it grab hold. He could not toss up his head, the bearing rein wouldn't allow it. Scout gave a small sigh, at least he was making small improvements in the stallion's behavior. He was very well aware that the simple fact of him being a stud could affect how he acted. He knew that most colts that raced were gelded, but many of the owners refused. They saw their colts as future champion studs, and Scout could only nod and sigh.
Scout then jerked the whip back up and Shoukran went off at a slow lope, his hooves hitting the ground in a smooth 1,2,3,1,2,3 pattern. "Good boy, keep it up." He praised and then asked for another lead change. Shoukran halted in pure protest, his ears flying back wards and his eyes were as red as fresh blood. Scout jerked at the lunge rope, not allowing Shoukran's fit to be the reason he called it a day. Scout knew better, horses who behaved as such had to be worked with more. Today, they had laid down the ground rules and in the next few weeks they'd conquer the race track. It all depended, he would have to remember the tricks he learned at Hopeful Farms on the correct way to ride as a jockey. They would need to register Shoukran, but because of his mixed blood it may be hard. Then again, his sire had no problems and the Jockey Club accepted the horse to race.
Scout went on to ask Shoukran to halt, and the stallion did so.

"So how long have you been working with Henry?"She asked him.She didn't want to distract him from training her horse but she was wanting to get to know him better. She watched herstallion work. She was happy to see him finally work. And soon but not to soon he would be on the track.

Scout gave Shoukran his head, he had deserved a bit of slack from the bit. As Scout tapped him with the whip he responded by giving a harsh buck, and Scout harshly pulled at the lunge bridle. He wouldn't allow Shoukran to strike out with his legs when touched with the whip. If he kept doing this, he'd be a danger to the rest of the horses and soon would be banned from any other racetracks. That was the one area that needed smoothing, but gate training would have to wait until another day. Shoukran started to move at a lazy trot, and Scout couldn't help but smile. He knew an hour of lunge work would help him start to behave to the basic guides and aids. Lorrinda would have to spend more saddle time on Shoukran, if he was going to get used to the feeling of weight upon his back. Semi-wild horses could be hard to bring back around, but Shoukran had once had human contact before. He could see this, most horses wouldn't even stand still for a brief moment. "Since I was fourteen, so about three years now. I had nothing to do and no place to go, and I guess he saw potential in me. I work with the horses and train them" He smiled and halted Shoukran, he had smooth stalts and he stood like an elegant Roman sculpture.
Shoukran pricked his ears and pawed at the ground, the fire in his eyes had still remained. Scout had managed to contain a small piece of that fire, and it felt good to manage to be so close to such an amazing horse.
